10:50 matpat have you seen the opening of the bee movie- According to all known laws of aviation, there is no way a bee should be able to fly. Its wings are too small to get its fat little body off the ground. The bee, of course, flies anyway because bees don't care what humans think is impossible.- now apply this to pokemon and theirs your answer

    2. N Weasels

So, had a potentially stupid idea while on the side of a mountain watching a lightning storm this week and thinking about atmospheric conditions with the latest mars rover and helicopter experimentation. Would the various flying pokemon that can't fly under these calculations fly, if say the atmosphere of the pokemon world was thicker than earth's atmosphere?

    3. The North Manc

      What about bees?

    4. RiorXD

      vid starts at 1:23

    5. CalebWithAC

Lol, I play on a pixelmon server and you can buy "flight suits" for 2 million in game dollars, so me and a friend made a gang/cult/secret society called "The Flight Elitists". We only fly shiny legendaries around to protest the use of flight suits. (Flight suits are also just over powered and unaffordable for new players so alot of times the rich players will get all the legendary Pokemon from the vote party, which is a legend that spawn after the server gets enough votes.)

    6. Harry McDaniel

I've heard swallows are strong enough to carry coconuts

    7. David Brown

man this video was a disappointment. the video itself was great but that title made me think of something completely different. I thought you were going to discuss why a bird type pokemon has to be TAUGHT how to fly. I mean seriously they can 'fly' without being able to (hm)FLY lol

    8. CoolCold

    9. Pock Pock

GEICO as sponsor?!! awesome!! Next step is a spot in Nascar cup series

    10. Lathaniel Jenkins

May not look at this xD pokemon theory:Why is it called``POKEMON``?

    11. Collecter OfSouls

Can you please do an altos adventure lore video

    12. rd n

Because they're pokemon. They can fly

    13. Maxter_Zap

My guess is that since the world of pokemon uses different laws of physics, they probably use different mass laws too

    14. watch my video.

Excuse me, did geico just sponsor Game Theory?

    15. Slevin Channel

Wrong. All Wrong. You would think Theorists and self-proclaimed Nerds would know that POkemon are NOT just Animals. Its a totally different thing. This is not about Wing Span, DUH. How can someone miss that fact??

    16. Yūreis Adventures

What if you can fly in Dragon ball? Would that be possible? 🤔

    17. PokeHearts 121

I legit had a geico ad before the video started

    18. Ali Chehab

A theory idea : "What kind of paper is Paper Mario made off?"

    19. Ali Chehab

Imagine seeing a charizard just swooping down and abducting a kid

    20. Ali Chehab

never thought that game theory would be sponsored by frickin' G E I C O

    21. Ali Chehab

"and then we'll mention the incredible GIRTH of Hoothoot" - MatPat while writing this episode

    22. Ali Chehab

Are you surprised a bird can carry multiple people at once. It's pretty simple when they drink RedBull.

    23. James Eisner

0:50 most retarded kind of advertising in existence. Why "should you call them!" just because there is one available since you pay them when in actuality this shark is fully funktional? No, no you SHOULD NOT CALL THEM IN THIS SITUATION!

    24. krrisin

I think that comparing Pokemon flying types to IRL birds is a bit inaccurate as Scizor's Shield Dex Entry says that "It's muscles are made out of Steel" so i think that most likely CorviKnight also has Steel Muscles and thus would proportionately be able to lift way more as Even Scizor (Sword Entry) can lift its claws which account for ⅓ of it's 260 pound body weight.

    25. FashionablyAlice

Finally, a youtube video that answers the eternal question: can a five ounce bird carry a one pound coconut?

    26. Mr.Preston 16

Next video, Fairy Pokémon aren’t fairies

    27. Yulistias Yenny Hadi

“Ruining your childhood in 2011” -Mattpat GT

    28. crankpatate

Basically just watching the pokemon, which does the taxi service, I'm already questioning, if a thing with such body shape could fly at all.

    29. hello world

9:44 weel,, i guess now we know why charizard cant learn fly in gen 1

    30. krypticavalanch

a big reason birds can fly is because of the density of the bones/what ever they are of the wings. they are hollow. plus it makes sense that pokemon would use something else to fly. thats why so many flying moves are just air attacks. plus wondering but what about dragons and wyverns? they can fly and their bodies clearly dont support that.

    31. Tanae and Ty

Hey MatPat can you do a theory on how Pokémon trainers know which gender is their Pokémon are?

    32. Alexander Glass

Or the poké world has a thicker atmosphere, it would also explain all the anime air time, every thing is just that much more buoyant in that atmosphere.

    33. WinRaa

How do Pokémon even generate the energy required to use their powers? What's in these Poké-Munchies?

    34. G3Gaming

I'm actually pretty sure that Lugia manipulating the air is canon.

    35. RosyKitteh

I always assumed that when your pokemon uses fly to fly you somewhere, both you and your Pokemon are turned into weightless data

are we not gonna talk about how furret is 1.8 metres tall?

    37. Mamta,amay Agarwal

according to science bumblebee also cant fly but they do SOMETIMES science is wrong (not always)

    38. Midori the Festive Gardevoir

Trainer with Surf: "I'm King of the World!" Fisherman with dinghy:

    39. 06yarbrougha

the laws of science are crushed when considering the in-world evidence of a pidgey's wings able to generate enough buffeting-force to launch enemies from its general area [whirlwind attack] your argument is moot. But as far real-world science (which I know is the point) spot-on and awesome way to teach it MatPat

    40. LennyJames

      3 words, *square, cube, law*

    41. Isaac Wilson

Matpat: "Bigger isn't always better, especially when it comes to flying." Russia: "...okay, but did you see our ekranoplane?!?asking it bigger only made it BETTER!"

    42. Isaac Wilson

If you applied your "bird brained" math to actually planes, you'd be SORELY dissapointed about the too; aerodynamics are hard.

    43. Almir Fernandes

      Ruined my childhood :)

    44. no name

If you watch generation to you know that the dealer has the legs

    45. Zachary Feryate

y'know matpat, I never came to realize, but theirs a sentimentality to your videos, just so you know, you are very appreicated and sometimes get me through my day, keep on doing what you're doing.

    46. hashtag jay

pokemon aren’t normal animals though. dumb, but interesting i guessss.

    47. Kaiser00Wilhelm

    48. Power Bank Cinema

You're making excuses you're ruining lives your whole series is a cancer go to heck and quit KGup

    49. gator fan

If the Pokédex is full of lies, which MattPat covered in a previous Game Theory video, how can it be a reliable and truthful source of information for this Game Theory??

    50. Fetroch

what if the world of Pokemon have much dencer Air like realy much which mean you can fly with more weight on you.

    51. leonard barlow

I get the science of this video but according to what we know, bees shouldn’t be able to fly. But they do, so makes sense that pokemon would break these “laws” too:

    52. Lemon Power

    53. DanielaTheDuck

You could save 15% or more- Bruh no I've heard too many of these commercials plz

    54. Witherman180

I like how the title is just like “actually charizard can’t fly” because in gen 1 this was actually true!

    55. Cereal

Ik im late but im hi and i felt the need to say 11:00 yes lugia can control current and air pressure

    56. Void'sHeadWasDropped

What if the planet they are on isnt earth so they weigh less? Would the ratios workmout the same or no? would the Pokemon be able to flap fast enough?

    57. Lord Megatron

    58. Mr. Coffee

i had no idea geico sponsored youtube videos

    59. AlphaMonster

Ok but what if all 'flying' types float psychically and just use their wings for direction

    60. Woomvee

      7:19 oh hey Edd crouse

    61. Tomato Giraffe

I would LOVE to see a Game Theory episode about the loftwings in Skyward Sword, based on this video! It would probably be much harder though, seeing as I don't know if their weights were ever recorded...

    62. double demons

the pokemon universe is the opposite of krypton (the planet) instead of more gravity than earth its less gravity than earth so instead of gaining powers like flight and strength you lose powers

    63. Kesh G

Im curious if a Pterodactyl flew?

    64. Matt Thewhitewolfgamer

Matpat you forgot the gravity of the pokemon world

      1. Matt Thewhitewolfgamer

If you take in the account of the gravity of the pokemon world then the pokemon could more easily fight the effects of the gravity of the pokemon world if the gravity is less

    65. jamcdonald120

1:30 you do know we rode horses for like.... thousands of years?

    66. jamcdonald120

0:30 who the **** are you?

    67. Jason Sadler

They also used to say that bees shouldn’t be able to fly. You don’t have a life. I don’t like you leave Pokémon alone. I’m telling my mommy.

    68. Jason Sadler

No amount of science will ever convince me Pokémon aren’t an effective means of travel.

    69. Pedro Leon

I the pokemon community we call those pidgey clones regional birds

    70. Brick Boss

So this video is a dragon vs a Bird let that sink in

    71. Caleb Cole

Game theory:charzared can’t fly. Gen one fans: we were right all along.

    72. Star Galaxy

According to all known laws of aviation, there is no way a Charizard should be able to fly

    73. Choppy Z

      Don't u guys love when u don't pay attention for 5 seconds and u have to re-watch the entire video cuz u didn't understand a thing? 😂

    74. budgies the memeic

      Glad you shown my kind

    75. hello sir

    76. Spec Pec

      ✨🥧 🕊 *pie dove* 🕊 🥧✨

    77. Eli_YamGod

I got a pokemon GO ad on a pokemon theory.

    78. JoeBro1211 Savage

MatPat used the saddest hey Arnold episode to make a point...damn

    79. Gustavo Nascimento

What are the others 719 codes?

    80. Shalaun Nelson

Pokemon can breath fire, and shoot water whirlpools, but flying that shouldn't be possible. None of it should be possible matt, normal rules do not apply.

    81. David Jacques

So Charizard not being able to learn Fly in Red & Blue was actually scientifically accurate?

    82. C P T

      Finally geico game theory collab

    83. Damian Fuentes

can we get a theory about what is under Mimikyu's cloak

    84. Some Guy

The intro was the best one yet

    85. Eager1One

      5:20 laughs in Filipino

    86. Myself Thethird

now, lets have a look at water type pokemons... specially the wilds ones. encounter a tentacool *while underwater in the open ocean* ! still needs to teach it dive ...

    87. FutureVegeta

they can do things like create tornados with their wings, I think pokemon shouldn't be compared to animals when seeing what they're capable of.

    88. Brent Dy

      Do brawl stars

    89. Brandon Kohler

What about bees and moths whose bodies are bigger than their wings for most species? Like the bumblebee for one example.

    90. busbeee

noice job on getting a Geico sponsor

    91. Absolute Trash

there's a local legend about an Osprey that caught a Sturgeon flew a short distance and dropped it on somebody's roof lul

    92. Mian The fox

    93. Stormblessed

    95. Sonamykitty UwU

      Poor pigey

    96. Kevin Hill

Did you just see that name Satoshi? It might be a sign. What if Satoshi Nakamoto was a pokemon fan?

    97. WeAreSeven Gamez

Game Theory Idea: How can Mario jump so high?

    98. Crazyy

Next video, Why Ground Pokemon can't walk.

    99. Awesome Sauce

13:00 that reminds me so much of James and the giant peach

    100. Whosthere

Ok, I am only 9 minutes into the video but I had to pause and comment. Are you just completely disregarding training? An average human can deadlift around 335 pounds. The current world record holder can deadlift 1,155 pounds. So if an average bird can lift 15 pounds, what would a trained bird (in a world where training like this does exist) be capable of lifting?
